It is hard to believe it is almost Thanksgiving! I am grateful for the wonderful start to the school year we have had. There are always ups and downs, but God has allowed us to see many more blessings to start the year than we could imagine. I wanted to go over a few events coming up in the near future.

  1. There is no school tomorrow, Friday, November 10th, in observance of Veteran’s Day.
  2. Thanksgiving break begins with an 11:30am dismissal on Wednesday, the 22nd. School will resume on Tuesday, the 28th.
  3. Basketball practice will start Thursday, November 30th, from 3pm-5pm. They will be every Tuesday and Thursday until Christmas Break. Many games are already scheduled on the school calendar for January and February.
  4. The Pink Out day raised $500 to donate to a patient fighting breast cancer. Thank you to all who participated through cards and donations! We received a thank you card that included, “Your thoughtfulness and generosity means more than the world to me and my family. You have helped me in so many ways I can’t thank you enough!” It is awesome to be a part of a school that reaches out and cares for others!
  5. For those that may not be aware, our students are all split up into four teams competing for a grand prize at the end of the year. We have contests that challenge them athletically, academically, spiritually, and sometimes just for fun. We wanted to do something to be a blessing to our community during the Christmas season and allow the students to earn more team points. We will do this in two ways. First, the City of Latrobe Police Department is collecting handwritten/handmade Christmas cards as well as: crossword/word search puzzle books, card games, small puzzles, sketch pads, pens, and colored pencils for veterans. Each card is worth a team point and each new package of other items will be worth up to 5 team points. Second, we are collecting items for Faith Forward/Angel Arms ministries. These items include: adult and children toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, lotions, shampoos, deodorant.), toilet paper, paper towels, adult and children’s socks, gloves/ hats, boots; For the children’s program: arts and crafts supplies , pens, papers, markers, crayons, bags of candy, small toys, books, stickers, games, notebooks, office supplies, printer paper; For Angel Arms: baby wipes, diapers( all sizes), baby supplies. All these items are worth up to 5 team points each. We will begin to collect these items in team boxes after Thanksgiving break. The deadline to bring items in will be Monday, December 18th. I can’t wait to see the difference our school makes in the community through these events!
  6. Lastly, as a reminder, we have a few different sicknesses that seem to be traveling through the school, including the battle we are still facing with pink eye. Please keep students home who are possibly contagious so that we can minimize the spread.

Thank you for all you do in support of BBCA, its staff, and our influence in the community! Please reach out with any questions you may have.
