Penngift Foundation Scholarship
Sponsor Overview
I want to share an exciting opportunity that could make a huge difference for our school and many of our families. In 2001, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania passed a little-known law that allows individuals and businesses to redirect their PA Income (money owed on your form PA-40) and PA Corporate taxes to a qualified scholarship fund instead of sending them to the state. This program could truly be life-changing!
If you’d prefer your tax dollars to support Christian education rather than just go to Harrisburg, this is a wonderful chance to do exactly that.
Here’s how it works, in brief:
- Let me know that you’re interested in contributing to the Penngift Scholarship Fund, along with your estimated donation amount.
- In the fall, we’ll meet to collect your donation and complete a very simple form (your accountant could also handle this for you).
- Penngift will establish a scholarship fund for our school, and we’ll start receiving disbursements.
- We’ll recognize and thank you by featuring your name or business in our school media and yearbook. This is a great way to advertise your personal business to the school and church family as well as the community!
- In the spring, you’ll receive a PA K-1 form from Penngift’s CPA reflecting your donation.
- When you file your PA taxes (using a PA-40 or corporate forms), you’ll include this K-1 and a Schedule OC (only three pieces of info on this short form).
- If you paid taxes throughout the year and do not owe when you file, that fall, Pennsylvania will credit back 90% of your donation. If you owe taxes when you file, that tax credit takes immediate effect to offset what you owe. This is a great option for small businesses that save up their tax dollars throughout the year!
For example:
- You donate $5,000 this fall (donations can be as little as $1,000).
- After filing your taxes next year, you’ll receive $4,500 back from the state (either as a credit offsetting what you owe or a reimbursement later in the year).
- The true cost to you ends up being only $500 and a few months — while providing a $5,000 scholarship and receiving advertising in our materials.
To help us plan with Penngift, we need your estimated donation by August 1st. Typically, we’ll collect donations and the short form in September.
I hope you’ll prayerfully consider partnering with us and Penngift. Together, we can make Christian education more accessible and help our school and church extend their impact in the community!
If you have questions or would like to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out. Thank you so much for considering this opportunity!

Scholarship/Financial Aid Application
Because of the timing of the funds, most of the scholarship money will become available early next year. However, some of the guaranteed funds may be available sooner. If you would like to apply, click the button below to fill out the financial aid application. The State requires a copy of your previous year’s PA-40 to verify income restrictions on the scholarship. As an added bonus, you can be both a sponsor and received of this financial aid. If you donate, you can apply as well!
