Newsletters. Because of the craziness of the Holiday schedule, we wanted to get out some important dates to you as early as possible. With my surgery, there will be a few less newsletters than usual. If I do not get to talk to you before then, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and a wonderful Christmas!

Veteran’s Day. We will observe Veteran’s Day on Friday, November 13th. Please note this change from the original school calendar. There will be no school for students.

Concert. There is no school on Friday, November 20th.

Thursday. Because there is no school this Friday or next, we are going to allow student with C and E privilege to dress in gym clothes for Thursday, the 12th and Thursday, the 19th.

Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving break will begin at 11:30am on Wednesday, November 25th. This is an early dismissal for all students. School will resume on Tuesday, December 1st.

Basketball. Practices start on December 1st. Many games are already scheduled on the school calendar, which is available on that page of the website. Pastor Schwender will put together a letter with a full schedule for parents once it is finalized.

Santa Shoppe. That school will have a Santa Shoppe on Monday, December 14th. This is a great opportunity for children to purchase items for friends and family. Mrs. Amy Klosky will be heading it up again this year. We will send home information on how it works as we get a little closer to that day.

Christmas Party. We will have a Christmas Party on Friday, December 18th. Students are going to be having a gift exchange. It is not required, but if you would like your student to participate, have them bring a gift that is approximately a $5-10 value to exchange with others in their learning center. Boys should bring gifts appropriate for boys, and girls should bring for girls. We are also asking each family to bring a small snack (cookies, chips, etc.) to share with the school.

Christmas Break. Our break will begin after the Party on the 18th and extend through January 4th, with school resuming January 5th.

Convention – Each year, our 8th-12th grade students are able to participate in Regional Student Convention. Miss Rachel Schwender heads up our convention efforts where students compete in a variety of events against schools from all over the region. Students who wish to participate must pay a non-refundable $50 deposit by January 15th. Convention will be the week of April 6th in Beckley, WV. The total cost for Regional Student Convention will be approximately $275 per student. This year, students will also have the opportunity to compete at International Student Convention. The cost for this will be approximately $425 per student. We will have more exact numbers available as we get closer to convention. Many students sold candy bars last year and those funds will be used against their total cost for conventions this year.

Weather – please remember that we go by Derry Area School District for closings and delays. We will also try to send out a text this year to help parents once we have that information.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to continuing to move forward for the Lord along side our church and school families.
