October 8, 2018

The school calendar, including volleyball games, is available on our website, www.bbcalatrobe.com. Just as a reminder, the first quarter ends October 18th and it will be a noon dismissal and there will be no school October 19th. October 22 is an Academic Release Day – students who achieve honor roll for the first quarter will not have school that day. Staff will be attending CEC (for continuing education) on October 31st and there will not be school for students that day.

There is a school revival scheduled for October 15-17. A special guest speaker, Sam Robinson, will be here for chapel services each of those days. Students will have a little less time for school work those three days and should plan accordingly.

This Friday, we will be having a field trip to Faranda’s Farm. This will be an all-day event and students will need to bring a lunch with all disposable containers. The cost of the field trip is $10 per student. I realize this is a more expensive trip, and the last-minute notice is due to availability at the farm (this is the only date they would take our group). If you need additional time to pay or are concerned about being able to pay for the trip, please contact me directly to make payment arrangements or arrangements for your students on Friday.

Each October, we join with organizations from around the world to celebrate Cancer Awareness Month. All monies brought in through the benefits we have this month will be donated to a family where the mom is dealing with stage 4 cancer. The profits from the Taco day will be going to this family. On the week of October 22nd, the student can pay $10 to purchase causal dress for the rest of the month as well as a lunch provided on Thursday, October 25th. Lunch details will be provided that week.

Please continue to send in Box Tops for Education and Chick-Fil-A receipts from Eastgate and Westmoreland Mall.

The annual Spaghetti Dinner will be on November 9th. We are planning to have vendors and dessert auctions again this year. We will be asking all of our 7th-12th grade students to help serve. We will also ask our families to donate items as we get closer to the event.

Fund Raiser – We try not to do too many fund raisers throughout the year. This year, rather than candles, we will be selling Amish dips and jellies. We will start the sales at the Spaghetti Dinner, where we will have samples available, and continue selling through the month of November. Ordered items will be available approximately two weeks before Christmas.

This month’s Scripture memory passage is Psalm 86:1-10.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
