Speedy Reader. We have seen so many benefits over the years of using the Speedy Reader program. Miss Michelle made a video walking through a page which can be seen here. If you have any questions, her number is in the Speedy Reader packet. It is important to note the benefits of the program if your child is struggling through some of the pages. The concept is to keep moving forward. If it gets overwhelming for a day, it’s ok to walk away from it. Just remember to pick it back up later or the next day. So often, we learn and grow more through the difficulties in life than the things that go smoothly. Be persistent and they will eventually get it when their mind is ready. Encourage them that it will happen, especially when they get frustrated. It is such a valuable learning experience for them! To be honest, as a parent I got frustrated because I thought my kids should be able to do it. 15-20 times of hearing the same page over and over can start to feel defeating. Then I remembered, reading is vital and will be a building block to their success throughout the rest of their schooling. They NEED this program and they NEED your support. Keep at it and they will be so much better for it in the long run!!!

Hoodies. There are a few school branded hoodies and t-shirts left from our last order. With the limited stock, we will only sell them in person. The hoodies cost $35 each, and the t-shirts are $15. These can be purchased from Pastor Lear or at the concession stand during games. Because we are running out of sizes, we will consider placing a new order if there is enough interest. Please let Pastor Lear know ASAP if you are interested so that we can place an order if needed.

Sports. The schedule is available on the website. Please note that there is a tournament for the girls at the end of the month, and it falls during the last two days of the quarter. There is a Father/Son Football game and Mother/Daughter volleyball game scheduled for November 6th starting at 5:30pm. I hope you will be able to come and be part of this last event of those seasons.

Quarter. October 30th is the last day of the first quarter. There will be an 11:30am dismissal that day. Students should strive to have 3 stars in each subject with an 88% or higher average by that time to gain honor roll.

Fellowship. There is a Parent/Teacher fellowship scheduled for November 1st from 3pm-6pm. Please note that this is for PARENTS ONLY. This is an opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers and see how they are progressing through the first part of the year. Progress Reports will be handed out at this event, as well as graduation projections for the older students. You are not required to stay for the entire time, but we want you to have the chance to meet some other parents as well as the staff.

Concert. Joseph Habedank will be at our church on November 20th. We are selling tickets for $20 each on a first come-first served basis. If you would like to buy tickets, please click here.

Thank you for allowing us to come along side your family. We love what we do here, and it wouldn’t be possible without your support. We know we are not perfect and have already made many mistakes this year, but we are excited that the Lord continues to allow us to move forward for His honor and glory.
