Convention – Each year, our 8th-12th grade students are able to participate in Regional Student Convention. Mrs. Schwender heads up our convention efforts where students compete in a variety of events against schools from all over the region. Students who wish to participate must pay a non-refundable $50 deposit by January 17th. Students interested in convention should be registered by that date because we cannot add them after that. Convention will be the week of April 13th in Mt. Bethel, Pa. The total cost for convention will vary based on how many students go and how much we can raise over the next few months, but would not be more than $250 per student (including the deposit).
Projects – The projects that are part of PACEs, such as Science and Social Studies, are part of the curriculum. In the past, we have withheld test scores and/or tried to help students get the projects finished up. Our supervisors are unable to continue this process, as they need this time to help students with academics. In trying to come up with an alternative that will still emphasize the importance of these projects, we have decided to make them part of the test grade. This allows the students and parents to work together to get a higher score on each PACE that contains a project. Each project will be worth approximately 5 points of the final grade on those PACEs. The projects are designed to work with the curriculum at the student’s grade level and provide both academic knowledge and a kinesthetic learning opportunity. By creating a test value, we are showing the importance of work ethic and the value of understanding our learning abilities.
Basketball – Please note the first home game of 2020 was scheduled for this Friday, but has been canceled. They have a few away games, but will be home next Tuesday, the 14th. Please come out and support your Patriots as many times as you can this season. The full schedule is available on the website on the school calendar.
Hoodies – There are extra hoodies and t-shirts for sale in various sizes. The price is still $15 for the shirts and $35 for the hoodies. See Pastor Lear for availability.
